MKR Foundation institutes Karma Award, first winner to be a college student

LHR Group’s charitable trust, the MKR Foundation, was formed a charitable trust aimed at aiding the welfare of the society and uplifting the needy. Now, the foundation is spreading its wings to facilitate the good samaritans in Kerala society for their endeavours to serve the people.
We are introducing the Karma Award, to be conferred each year to a deserving personage who has contributed much of repute towards social welfare, in remembrance of our founder M.K. Ramunni Nair. The award consists of a customized certificate and a cheque for Rs. 1,00,000. Acclaimed writer and filmmaker M.T. Vasudevan Nair has been constituted as the jury chairman and the other members will include writer Sarah Joseph, social activist and founder of Solace, an organization that supports cancer patients, Sheeba Ameer; Dr. Balachandran, the chief of AVS Charitable Hospital, Kottakkal; Dr. Muraleedharan, Assistant Chief Physician at Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, and Ullathil Achu, the chairman of MKR Foundation.

The first recipient chosen by the jury is Dinu Veyil, a young college student and social reformer who has done much unsung work in supporting people plagued by terminal illnesses. He has helped spread awareness about these conditions and has also formed voluntary groups to look after the sick. MKR Foundation recognizes the importance of his work and proudly declares him the first recipient of the Karma Award.
